In July 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) and Beam Community Development 360 Initiative (BCD360) held a two-day Stakeholder Training on the Rights of Key Populations and Rights-Based Service Provision in Nasarawa State. Participants included representatives of government institutions, security agencies, the legal sector, religious leaders and civil society organisations.
The training was part of the FEF-OSC 2025 project, “Promoting Economic Empowerment and Access to Health Services by Young Female Sex Workers and Females Who Use Drugs”, funded by the Embassy of France in Nigeria. Key populations, including young female sex workers and females who use drugs, continue to face stigma, discrimination and exclusion when they seek health care, protection or support.
The training equipped stakeholders to:
- understand the human rights frameworks that apply to key populations
- recognise and challenge stigma within institutions
- build safe, non-judgemental and inclusive service environments
- work across sectors to protect and support vulnerable community members
The two days were marked by honest conversations, stronger partnerships and a shared commitment to change. We thank every participant for their willingness to listen, learn and lead.
