In January 2026, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) held two training sessions for community TB workers (CTWs) in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State.
In Abi Local Government Area (LGA), the training focused on the National Protocol for the Tuberculosis Control Programme in Nigeria. It strengthened the knowledge and skills of these frontline workers in TB prevention, early detection, treatment adherence and community-based care, in line with national guidelines.
In Boki West, an intensive session focused on collecting sputum samples and shipping them correctly for TB case evaluation.
CTWs work at the front line of the TB response in their communities. Equipping them with up-to-date protocols and practical skills supports:
- earlier detection
- more accurate diagnosis
- effective referral
- better TB services at community level
