In October 2024, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) marked World Mental Health Day in Nasarawa State in partnership with the Network for Rights and Community Inclusion (NeRCI). This year's theme was "Mental Health at Work".

We care about the mental well-being of both our staff and our clients. The day brought together ORHI staff, key opinion leaders and community members to raise awareness of mental health, especially in the workplace.

The programme included:

  • a rally to engage the community on the importance of mental health
  • group games and mindfulness exercises
  • a session on breathing techniques and communication, led by Nurse Emmanuel Sunday
  • a lecture on mental health in the workplace by Dr Laughter, with case studies and tips on building positive work cultures
  • discussions on stress management, work-life balance and supportive work environments

The day ended with more games and the presentation of certificates to participants.

Mental health is as important as physical health. We will keep advocating for accessible mental health support and for safe spaces where people can talk openly, free from stigma.
