In August 2023, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) attended a lecture and seminar at the Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL), held to mark the institute's 20th anniversary. The theme was “The Significance of Lifelong Learning in Social Policies, with an Emphasis on Healthcare”.
The chief host was Professor Olufemi Peters, Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Guests included Professor Carlos A. Oliveira of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), who gave presentations, and Bonac Orusakwe, Executive Director of ORHI.
Discussions focused on how lifelong learning can be put into practice in healthcare policies, and the difference it makes. The event encouraged collaboration and knowledge-sharing among participants, and gave useful insight into the role of lifelong learning in shaping social policies, particularly in healthcare.
