In June 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) hosted a five-day workshop in partnership with Beam Community Development 360 Initiative (BCD360). The workshop was part of the FEF-OSC 2025 project, “Promoting Economic Empowerment and Access to Health Services by Young Female Sex Workers and Females Who Use Drugs”, funded by the Embassy of France in Nigeria.

Project management team members and grassroots-led organisations working with the young women the project serves came together to co-create:

  • a community-based economic empowerment manual
  • strategic advocacy tools for engaging stakeholders on the health and economic rights of these young women

Sessions covered the advocacy process, mapping community-centred advocacy journeys and designing tools for engaging decision-makers. On day four, participants moved from theory to practice, developing advocacy tools and discussing what empowerment means in their own context.

The aim is to build the capacity, confidence and shared tools needed for strategic advocacy on health and economic justice.
