In September 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) held a community engagement meeting in Nasarawa State on access to health services. Community leaders, community-based organisations (CBOs), health representatives, people living with HIV, TB survivors, people at high risk of HIV, key populations and youth advocates took part.

The discussion covered HIV, TB, malaria, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) and general health services. The meeting:

  • gave community members a safe space to share their experiences of using health services
  • identified gaps in access, stigma and barriers to treatment
  • developed solutions with stakeholders for stronger, people-centred healthcare
  • strengthened community voices for accountability

The meeting was part of our community-led monitoring (CLM) work, which brings service users and providers together to make health services more responsive and accountable.
