In November 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) held a three-day co-creation workshop on information, education and communication (IEC) materials in Nasarawa State. The workshop was part of our FEF-OSC 2025 project with Beam Community Development 360 Initiative (BCD360), funded by the Embassy of France in Nigeria, which supports young women’s economic empowerment and access to health services.
Participants included civil society actors, youth advocates, health educators and community stakeholders. Together they worked on messages for ongoing community education and sensitisation that are inclusive, relatable and evidence-based, and that reflect the realities of young women and key populations.
Over the three days, participants:
- explored how effective communication can drive social change, reduce stigma and create safe spaces for dialogue
- learned how to design IEC materials that inform, engage and empower
- drafted posters, slogans and other messages for use in communities
Developing the materials with the people who will use them helps keep the messages rooted in empathy and inclusion. We will draw on the ideas from the workshop in our continuing community education work.
