In December 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) joined civil society partners, feminist advocates, youth leaders and allies from across Nigeria at the French Embassy in Abuja to mark the close of the 2025 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence (GBV). The national theme was “No gree for violence, no gree for GBV”: a call never to accept, give room to or give in to any form of violence.

The evening drew on Nigerian culture. The breaking of the kola nut set a tone of unity and respect, while the oja flute and traditional storytelling reminded guests that our traditions have long condemned harm and upheld dignity, protection and community strength.

The gathering brought together activists, development partners, diplomats and fellow grantees of the FEF-OSC programme, all calling for safer spaces for women, girls and vulnerable groups.

For ORHI, the evening renewed our commitment to:

  • amplify stories that often go unheard
  • protect vulnerable communities
  • champion gender justice
  • build systems that prevent violence before it happens
