In July 2025, a team from Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) and Beam Community Development 360 Initiative (BCD360) paid an advocacy visit to the Nasarawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The visit was part of the FEF-OSC 2025 project, “Promoting Economic Empowerment and Access to Health Services by Young Female Sex Workers and Females Who Use Drugs”, funded by the Embassy of France in Nigeria.
We discussed building inclusive support systems for vulnerable young women who face stigma, violence and exclusion. Our key areas of focus were:
- economic empowerment
- mental health support
- rights-based protection
- community reintegration
The Ministry expressed openness to collaboration. This is an important step towards safer, more inclusive communities where every woman, whatever her background, can live with dignity, access services and thrive.
