In March 2025, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI), together with community-based organisations (CBOs) and in partnership with Lawyers Alert, visited the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) in Nasarawa State. The visit was part of our project Advancing Capacity and Reducing Vulnerability in Nigeria, supported by the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).

The aim was to strengthen collaboration and advocacy to end gender-based violence (GBV), human rights abuses, stigma and discrimination in access to healthcare, particularly for key populations living with HIV.

Our key advocacy messages were:

  • safety and an effective response for people affected by GBV and related abuses
  • tackling stigma and discrimination in access to healthcare
  • improving the quality of care for people living with HIV
  • working together to strengthen the right to health

Those present included the NEPWHAN Coordinator, a representative of the Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASHWAN) Nasarawa State, the Global Fund State Representative, ORHI's Executive Director and representatives of partner CBOs.

We remain committed to a future free of stigma, where everyone can access quality healthcare without fear or discrimination.
