In May 2024, Olive Rights to Health Initiative (ORHI) joined Lawyers Alert and other community-based organisations (CBOs) for an advocacy dialogue with the Karu branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Nasarawa State.

The dialogue focused on the rights of key populations and other marginalised groups in Nasarawa State. We discussed how to tackle stigma and make sure everyone has inclusive access to legal services, and stressed that human rights and justice apply to all, regardless of sexual orientation.

Lawyers have an important part to play in protecting people from discrimination and helping them seek justice. Engaging the NBA is part of our work with Lawyers Alert to advance capacity and reduce vulnerability in Nigeria.
